It seemed to me to be necessary now, so that comments won't be missed. I may also set up a notification system for comments on your reviews.

Let me know how it's working for you. You get six recent comments and can click through to read the last 100 (when there are 100 available). You won't see anything if nobody has reviewed from your bookshelf, if you have no titles in your bookshelf, and if you have nobody in your friends list (currently titled 'favorite users', but it will be changing to 'friends' and be overhauled to look better in the near future).

October 2010
Tags. Currently changing the default Bookshelf view to show tags associated with a member's books. Also making it easy to add tags to books. After this is working, I'll be adding tags to recipes. Then updating the search so that it's easy to search or filter by tags. Finally, when that's all working, I'll be looking at the best way to add ingredient lists to each recipe, which I think would be very useful to have.

Experimenting with ads http://cookbooker.com/test-dir/forum/discussion/23/experimenting-with-ads Tue, 07 Dec 2010 11:08:38 -0500 andrew 23@/test-dir/forum/discussions
I can see offering an ad-free membership for a modest annual fee as an option. Let me know if that's something people might be interested in. I'm also open to other options to bring more value to the site, things which might be worth paying a subscription for. ]]>

Advanced search is available by clicking 'Search' on the top menu. You can search by cuisine type and course as well as choosing to search in different ways (all words, exact word and exact title).

We don't have tags for individual recipes. That will be coming when I figure out the best way to implement it - perhaps as an ingredient list more than just tags.

Let me know of any bugs here. I've already noticed that tags don't show up yet on Magazine pages. This will be fixed soon. ]]>
Removed Blog http://cookbooker.com/test-dir/forum/discussion/14/removed-blog Thu, 28 Oct 2010 20:22:09 -0400 andrew 14@/test-dir/forum/discussions Importing your library http://cookbooker.com/test-dir/forum/discussion/8/importing-your-library Sat, 18 Sep 2010 22:16:19 -0400 andrew 8@/test-dir/forum/discussions
Right now you will be able to import library files from LibraryThing, Shelfari and GoodReads to populate your bookshelf. If anyone would like to help test it out, you can do so by going to http://www.cookbooker.com/import.php and following the directions. In my own testing, it has worked just fine on files from all three websites, but there's nothing like getting other people to test something out to find the flaws.

If you do use this, please email me using the 'contact us' link at the bottom of any page, or reply to this discussion thread, to let me know how it went for you. Right now it just pulls in the ISBNs from your file and then connects them to Cookbooker titles, allowing you to preview them before adding them to your bookshelf (and also allowing you to add new books to the site). If there's a demand for it, I can also look into grabbing ratings and reviews from the websites; this is a little more complicated, but should be doable.

If you use another website or a software program to organize your library, let me know and I should be able to add it to the import list - I'll need a copy of your exported file to examine it first. ]]>
