Connecting book editions

As far as I can see, they are already connected. Maybe someone reacted quickly to this post.

I can't see them being connected.... I just reviewed a recipe from one edition but it didn't show up in the other edition and had to be added there as well. Maybe I misunderstand the connect function... I assumed it would mean avoiding duplicating reviews.

For example 'Coconut Macaroons' is at http://www.cookbooker.com/recipe/624/coconut-macaroons and at http://www.cookbooker.com/recipe/2149/coconut-macaroons

The problem seems to be that the editions are allegedly connected but the recipes don't show up in both editions.

This is particularly annoying with books that have both UK and US editions, but it also applies to books that are revised, like The Cook's Companion.

One wonders what is the point, from a practical stance, of connecting editions.

The connection system allows you to connect all editions of a cookbook, but it doesn't stop duplication of reviews. The reason is because recipes are sometimes tweaked from one edition of a cookbook to another, and I wanted to be sure that we captured that possibility (look at Joy of Cooking, for example).

As it's set up now, they system allows you to look at recipes from all editions of a cookbook, but it's a bit of an obscure step to do this. You have to click 'recipe reviews' and then on the list page that follows, select 'show results from all editions'.

I didn't want this on by default, as I thought it might confuse some people. However, perhaps there's a more clear way to do this?

Ooo, I've never noticed the all-editions option. Maybe it could be made more prominent, a button or even a checkbox?

I second that - I'd never noticed either. This seems to be my day for showing myself up as a techno-dummy!

I think you're showing that it's easy to miss, and not designed as well as it could be. So my fault, not yours! A button is a great idea.
