I made this cake with lemons rather than pear. Followed cake instructions, just replaced thinly sliced lemon for the pear. It looked lovely and tasted even better. The cardamom flavor was not strong as others reported but that could have been because I did not use freshly ground or simply that the lemon overpowered the spice. Either way we found this delicious.
