The bread was very dense and heavy. I made it for a friend's Irish-born mother who wanted the'real' thing. This wasn't it. The flavor wasn't bad but it was just too too heavy.

While I didn't care for the bread by itself it was delicious dipped in the Beef and Guinness Stew page 72. Perfect for a cold autumn night. I made this one Sunday for our Monday supper. Good to come home to a supper I only had to heat up.
