my personal cookbooker challenge
If you click your own name in the forums you should be able to edit your details (this is separate from your Cookbooker profile). I've done it now just to save time.

Thanks @redjanet - I'm so glad Cookbooker has helped. This is exactly why I created the site, and I've greatly expanded my own repertoire and knowledge in the process.

Classification Question
I've mulled this over, and though I think I'd weigh in on this as condiments too, I think salad dressings are enough of an important recipe that they should get their own classification, as @SelahWrites alluded to. So they now appear separ…

Multiple Index Page As I know several of you are doing some book indexing now, I've made it easier to do so by creating a multiple index page. When you click on the 'Add a New Recipe' button now, you'll see a link in the index se…

Thanks, @Leeka! Once people have added enough ingredients to the site to make it useful, I'll be overhauling search and I'll try to include some way to search your ingredients too. One of the new features is live right now. You should be…

Edit any recipe You can now edit the title and page number, cuisine and course for any recipe on the site, whether you entered it or not. So if you spot errors, feel free to correct them. Remember, with power comes a great responsibility... @LazyL…

Let me know what one it is, @redjanet, and I'll delete it for you. One of my updates will let anyone change the name of a recipe, so this should be less likely in future!

Thanks! And just wait, there are more updates just around the corner. I'm hoping to have them running by this weekend.

@Leeka and @Friederike - I have adjusted the editing feature so you can click outside the cell now to save your edits, as well as clicking the enter key, so either one should do.

Will do, everyone! I've started on it now. I have added course & cuisine to indexing, so it should work - let me know here of any bugs. Next, hopefully tomorrow, I'll make it so you can add course and cuisine to a previously indexed …

Sorry, @Leeka - I must have forgotten this one. It's not so much a bug as a bad design choice. Since I expect the person adding a recipe to be the one selecting the cuisine and type, I only gave reviewers the option to review. But I'll loo…

Future Challenges
Great! I'll set it up this week. It will take a little fiddling to sort this out; I think I'll have to add recipe tags as an option, so that people can then tag their recipes with the same tag so we know they're part of the challenge.…

Actually, I think I have a good idea for this. We could do a challenge where people can review any recipe from any book, magazine or website, as long as it's a BBQ / grilling recipe. So instead of picking a book, we pick a theme.

You should be able to do this, @sturlington. I'll have to look into it more.

Grilling is a great idea. I'm just in the process of reviewing a Latin Grilling cookbook, and have been thinking about BBQ recently. We just have to find a cookbook that lots of people have, or is easy to get. I'm happy to take suggestions…

Thanks, @LazyLurker - I've fixed that one now. I'm thinking of making all book information editable by any member so we can all fix mistakes. I'd just need to set up a tracking feature of some sort like Wikipedia so we can reverse cha…

Already done - the checkmark will show up for any links being entered too. As for distinguishing between a link to the online version, there are two ways to do this - either separate this and make a section for it under the main page (reviews) for t…

Done. Now there's a small checkmark which will appear on the ingredients tab when someone has added ingredients to a recipe.

Good idea, @friederike - the only question is how to know when they are completely indexed. I'll look at the options - maybe just a button that can be clicked by anyone when a cookbook has been completely indexed? Also there should be a way so…

I've considered a conversion algorithm of some sort but there are complications. For example, there isn't a consensus on what 1 C of flour weighs. If you dip and sweep you get more than if you spoon and level. Some people call 4 oz a cup a…

Thoughts - do we need the quantity field or would it just be simpler to have a larger ingredient space and then the two optional weight fields? so: 1 medium potato | 4oz | 125g 4 cloves garlic, crushed 1 tsp olive oil | | 5g
