Good idea for a future challenge, if we can find a suitable book that's lo-cal without being a 'fad' diet type of book; something that would fit the quality of the other books we've been doing as challenge titles. I'll start…

The winners have been posted now. Sorry for the delay on this. I'm happy to congratulate sturlington and jencc, who were picked by our fancy pants winner-picking system. They'll get the book of their choice from Rick Bayliss's back ca…

Glad that this was a good challenge for (almost) everyone. Sorry to hear about your ingredients issues @BethNH. Perhaps there's a business opportunity in there somewhere! I'm a little delayed on the end of the challenge, but I'll sort…

Searching My Cookbooks
What would be really great from this website would be to have the ability to search within the cookbooks in My Bookshelf. I would like to select one or more ingredients or key words and be able to find a recipe in the books that I own. Maybe this …

Great stuff. And I see that Super Natural Every Day, a book I reviewed earlier in the year, won an award too. And Modernist Cuisine (still don't have the $500 to blow on that one!) the big winner.

@Zosia: I looked at the email stats and it shows that starting on the 30th, some emails were not getting through for some reason. Not many, so it may be just you, or you and one other person perhaps (I don't have exact stats at the moment). It&…

@Zosia, right now it works on page numbers, which don't exist for websites. I'll see if I can create a separate option for websites which just sorts the reviews alphabetically for this purpose. Shouldn't take long

it seemed like that would be great here - to be able to immediately jump to the next review within a book. Done! Have a look at the recipe page for any recipe and you'll see previous and next (and list of recipes) links at the bottom right sid…

Oddly enough, here on Vancouver Island I can also find fresh tomatillos in the supermarket. I didn't realize how fortunate we are - maybe it's being closer to California than the rest of Canada. Anyway, @Zosia - canned tomatillos will no…

I do indeed! It's for espresso making. Apparently there are two main variables for making good espresso, once you've controlled for the technical side of things by getting a good machine which has consistent temperature and pressure - the …

Good idea! I just posted a link to a Canadian dried chili connection, so I'll cross-post it here: I was lucky to make a trip into Vancouver yesterday and found a great store there with dried chilis, for those Canadians taking part. South Chin…

That's the book I was most interested in too, QS, after perusing them all. I think we have a candidate! I'll write it all up and set up the challenge dates this week. And I'll send it in the newsletter, which I neglected to do for the…

I'm also thinking Mexican - it's a cuisine I've been interested in exploring more for some time. I think we would either pick Diana Kennedy's Essential Cuisines of Mexico or one of two books by Rick Bayless. Both are highly revie…

Fixed! To be completely sure, we'll have to give it a few days to see if the comment notifications come streaming in, but definitely I found a bug which was preventing them from being sent. Let me know your results over the next few days.
