Queezle Sister
This picture shows Queezle, a quail who lived with us for a year. She because our friend (not dinner), but eventually a wild male courted her through the window, and so she returned to the wild.

Newest Challenge - Paula Wolfert's Moroccan Cooking
Nice article in the New York Times on preserved lemons, you can access it here. How timely, and thanks to Burning_Brother for telling me about it.

Fat Tuesday
That sounds so good, Zosia! Unfortunately, I won't get home till late tonight, and most likely have to take an out of town work visitor to dinner. Luckily my favorite Mexican restaurant is along the route.... Enjoy!

Newest Challenge - Paula Wolfert's Moroccan Cooking
This will be so fun. My kids agreed that the best way to celebrate was to immediately try one of the desserts... (semolina cookies) ... they were so unusual and so good, an excellent omen.

How do you start a cookbook club?
Our first cookbook club met tonight. Five of us prepared something from "Around my French Table", and we had a wonderful feast. I plan to tag all the reviews with "cookbook club". There was a lot of enthusiasm, and we have ano…

Andrew, I'm wondering about having links open a separate page... For example, when I'm reading a recipe that comes from Epicurious, it would be great if when I click the recipe, it opens in a separate window instead of making me exit cook…

Fundamental Laws of Cooking?
Cool diagram. I wonder if -- if they studied world foods -- how many "types" of food would there be? Or could you use the flavor pairings to identify the unusual?

Linking recipes
Hi - I moved my comment (associated with the link) to the comment section. I was wondering, though, what you envision the "chatter" link to contain, and how it might differ from the "comments"?

Oh sorry, Zosia - I should have also added a comment. That just looked so delicious, I had to know if my good friend Google could find the recipe for me. But I don't know the answer to your question.

Best cookbook of 2011
This is a good question. It caused me to review the year's cookbooker reviews (yikes, looks like I did a lot of eating) and the year's cookbook acquisitions (yikes again!). My favorite is Moosewood Restaurant Cooks at Home: Fast and Easy…

My friends and I are trying to start a cookbook club. We are loosely following the suggestions on the link from Andrew, near the top. We have a core group of six women - and we selected "around my french table" as the first cookbook. I …

10,000 reviews and counting!
Thank you, Andrew, for building this wonderful community. Cookbooker is a supportive and fun thing. It has helped me hone my photographic and culinary skills, make new friends, and keep in touch with my sister. And my family loves the food!

Both Korean and Moroccan cookbooks were on the lists of top books of the year, weren't they? I'd lean toward Moroccan, too. I've a new jar of preserved lemons just begging to be used.

Culinary opportunities in the Berlin area?
Nice blog! I will definitely try one or two of the suggested restaurants. Its always a bit of a crapshoot for me - hard to tell what I'm even ordering most of the time. That blog gives me some good guidance, thanks.
