The first one you did, friederike, looks like a pretty good ratio to me - it shows as 160 x 127, so roughly 1.25 to 1. It also looks better cropped with the right border removed to emphasize the image and site logo. I think that since we're pro…

@friederike - I had more time to do this today than I thought, and I've activated cover uploads for websites now. Just try to keep the screen shots at least 160 pixels wide (more is fine). Let me know if there are any issues with it.

Hi friederike - yes, I can definitely delete them. Any more than the ones you link to? I'll try to get the website uploads up and running tomorrow if possible; I've been bogged down with some other stuff and it's taking longer than I&…

@KVizz - thanks! It's obviously not clear enough, so I've done a quick edit and added it to a couple of areas as a simple text link to the manual title add page: http://www.cookbooker.com/add_title.php - I'll spend a bit more time soo…

my personal cookbooker challenge
What @LazyLurker says. Once indexed, you could add them to your recipe folder - it's the little folder icon that says 'save' next to the email icon on each recipe. The folder itself is a little clunky; I'm going to clean it up so…

@BethNH - sorry, I didn't see this thread on the weekend. The front page is a complicated calculation, one that doesn't exactly do what I originally intended, but works well enough that I haven't fiddled with it. Essentially I wanted …

Looking for easy romantic dessert
Creme Brulee or chocolate pots de creme are both fairly simple desserts and have that fancy, special occasion feel to them, both being in ramekins so each person gets their own personal dessert. The great thing about Creme Brulee is that you can do …

Newest Challenge: The Moosewood Cookbook
Yes, Jan-December. We are not doing photos any more, just reviews. A simple solution is that if you win you can just decline and then be free to win at a later time. I don't want to dissuade anyone from taking part in a challenge!

That's handy, @kateq. And great to hear the cookbook is geting you (and the kids) to expand your horizons, @Sieburp. We just published an interview with Mollie on our 'Articles' section, for anyone interested. She had some interestin…

@Leeka: have a look at Mollie Katzen's website - she lists a number of recipes from different books, and at least some of them are from the Moosewood, though you'll have to do some clicking around to find them as they're not organized…

New Feature: Cover Uploads
It's something I experimented with @friederike, when I added websites to Cookbooker, but making a cover for a website is a bit harder than adding a book or magazine cover - you have to either take a screenshot from your computer or else use one…

I'm sorry I mistook Jaffrey's book for an Indian cookbook! It does look very interesting indeed. You're welcome to run a side challenge at any time, of course - I'd suggest starting a new thread on the forum where you can chat ab…

The way that Cookbooker is set up, every edition has its own separate page, so there won't be any confusion about which recipe you're reviewing. You can combine titles and view all recipes from the 'recipe reviews' page of a cook…

Sounds good! I want to keep challenges to one book, so we wouldn't include Molly's other fine titles, but we certainly would include all editions, including the New Moosewood. I'll get cracking on setting things up and we can launch t…

There is, but it's cunningly disguised. I'm really going to have to make it clearer! Go here and you can do it manually, but you might want to check the website list to make sure we don't have it already: http://www.cookbooker.com/add…

Hi all: We'll be picking a veggie cookbook imminently. Madhur Jaffrey is a great writer/cook, but we did do an Indian cookbook challenge recently; maybe later in the year. I have to say, I'm leaning towards the Moosewood Cookbook at the…

I'll get cooking and see what I can come up with. I've also thought of letting people comment on reviews, as you suggest @Leeka. This should be fairly straightforward to do; the only issue is making it unobtrusive but yet letting people kn…

I realize this doesn't quite solve the connection issue with identical or near identical recipes from different sources, though some of this could fit in links or chatter. That's another kettle of fish... It's not the same as connecti…

This is very interesting, and has given me some ideas. I'm thinking that the recipe display could have tabs, not unlike your bookshelf, and we could kill several birds with one stone, taking care of a few requests in one. In this case we coul…

Thanks for the soup recipe, AJ. I'll definitely give it a shot, and have a look at the other one. I just reviewed the caramelized onion and cabbage tart here: http://www.cookbooker.com/recipe/13718/caramelized-onion-and-cabbage-tart It was pre…

That's what I was thinking about - if we start using the cookbooks feature to put things in that are not cookbooks, it could muddy the water for everyone - show up on the home page and on searches etc. I like how Epicurious allows people to upl…

Cabbage Club - Cooking with Winter Vegetables and the New York Times
I just ate the Andean stew. It was pretty good - I gave it 3 stars - and it ended up tasting a lot like veggie chilli. One recommendation I'd make is to up the spicing; it's not bland, but it's not aggressive either. Here's my re…

Thanks everyone! @wester - the idea of a weighted draw is a good one. A little more complicated to run, but I bet I could program something that automatically did the math and weeded out any reviews that were stars-only or just a few words.

@LazyLurker - would this be on your bookshelf page or on the list of books on the site? It's one of those features that's likely not used very much, but I can see that it might be useful from time to time.

@Silkhat: if you'd like to import all 300 books into Cookbooker, let me know. You can send us the Access Database and we'll convert it for you. We can even import the location as a tag for you.
