Easter/Passover
I think Christmas dinner is less traditional in the US because we have Thanksgiving the month before. Turkey is served for Thanksgiving. Typically some kind of beef is served for Christmas. And then ham for Easter. Traditions vary, of course, an…

Easter/Passover
We're pretty traditional for Easter dinner - baked ham, mashed potatoes, green beans, dinner rolls, pie ... I'm looking at a new recipe for the ham and haven't chosen the pie yet. The next day is my oldest son's birthday so he …

Day of Pi(e)
I have to make one more pie before the next Pi day. My son, who is away at college, was dismayed that his dining hall did not serve pie on Pi day. I promised him a pie next week while he's home for spring break.

IPad vs. Cookbook page numbers
I hereby promise not to abuse the power given me. It is a great idea, however, to be able to edit reviews for things like page numbers.

I deleted my entry with the altered name and edited the original review to add the correct page number. I didn't realize we could edit reviews that had been done by other people.

A Lasagne Winter
I don't have a suggestion for a recipe off hand but what size pan do you use? I use a Pyrex 9x13 pan and standard size lasagna noodles fit just fine in it.

great holiday cooking gifts
Sounds like you got some fun new gifts! I got a few new cookbooks. I also got some beautiful gifts from the Vermont Bowl Company and a Pizzelle maker. Maybe tomorrow during the snow storm I'll make my first pizzelles. Tonight we're havin…

Next challenge?
And it's already owned by 46 members, Kaye. I agree this would be a good idea for a challenge. At this time of year, when many of us are cooking for the holidays, this cookbook would offer something for everyone.

Not commenting on the advisability of adding tags to recipes that have yet to be reviewed but attaching a 0 rating to a recipe would mean that the overall rating for that particular recipe would be skewed downward once it is actually reviewed.

Andrew, I am not receiving notifications when there is a comment on one of my reviews. I am getting notifications when reviews are posted in cookbooks I own so some things appear to be going through. Any ideas?

Newest Challenge - Rick Bayless's Mexican Kitchen: Capturing the Vibrant...
About the only thing I can find is tomatillos. I was planning on making a trip to one of the cities in NH (we don't really have big cities here) and did some research to find some Mexican groceries. I found nothing. I searched on Chowhound a…

Newest Challenge - Rick Bayless's Mexican Kitchen: Capturing the Vibrant...
I've enjoyed reading about the challenge but have been unable to participate as it has been impossible to find ingredients locally. There is not a Mexican market within an hours drive and, perhaps, not within the entire state.

I will have to check out the ingredients at my local grocery store also. This store serves a couple of very small towns of about 4,000 people each. The variety, especially in the ethnic areas, is lacking. I do, however, go to a couple of bigger t…

Andrew, I know amazingly little about computers. You are correct that I was copying the Excel file from Cookbooker. How kind of them to trim off the leading zeroes! I would love a list of ISBNs. Thank you.

Andrew, These are the ISBNs I got when I went to the export file. As you can see, a number of them are simply too short to be ISBNs and one has weird symbols. 714848360 1891105035 193361501X 618875530 307336794 307268241 [edited for length by An…
