An easy biscuit-based cinnamon roll. Buttermilk biscuits are patted into a rectangle, a brown-sugar, cinnamon, clove, butter mixture sprinkled over it, rolled, cut, and baked. After brief cooling, the rolls are spread with a cream cheese icing.
This recipe is similar to one in America's Test Kitchen Healthy Family Cooking, but this is the full fat version. Very delicious. I used slightly less clove as I had recalled that not being 13-daughter's favorite.
The best thing about this recipe is that its quick. Rather than a yeast dough, and its associated rising time, the biscuits allow you to bake it immediately.
My dark brown sugar was rock hard, so I used all light brown sugar in place of the called-for dark brown/white sugar blend. I also didn't have butter milk, and used in its place a dried cultured buttermilk that you add to the flour. Both changes seemed to work fine.
