Recipe Review

After reading the review here at cookbooker, I knew I'd have to make this recipe ASAP, even though I'm not really a truffle lover. I'm so glad I did.
LOVED the goat cheese and pepper centers, and the salt. Less fond of the chocolate coating, mainly for textural reasons. But I still like the idea of pairing sweetened goat cheese with chocolate and I will probably try the filling as the center of a cake-like chocolate thumbprint cookie.

AJ, I'm glad you were somewhat happy with your results but was wondering if you dipped your goat cheese in the chocolate like soupereasy did? If so that's a different recipe from what's in the book. Here's a link from Serious Eats of the recipe that's in the book:

I actually went to a book store and wrote down the ingredients but not the exact process for the truffles -- so soupereasy's troubles -- since we did them together -- were probably more my abysmal memory than the fault of the recipe -- I just loved the idea of goat cheese, sugar and pepper, but should have paid more attention to the making-of-the-truffle process. Carried away by enthusiasm coupled with inattention to detail -- not a good mix!
Thank you very much for the link as I'll definitely make the filling again. Since I'm not much of a truffle lover (just couldn't resist the filling in this recipe), I am going to try that cookie idea.

Your cookie idea sounds great. I love chocolate truffles but don't indulge often but did enjoy these. I found them easier to make than some I've tried.
