Recipe Review

This custard based ice cream has a lovely creamy texture and with only 1 tsp of mastic, a very subtle, intriguing flavour, very different from vanilla but difficult to describe.
I served it with this cherry spoon sweet and together they made a wonderful dessert. I’d like to try this recipe with the full 2 tsp of mastic.

Its interesting to search "mastic" on amazon. Some items turned out to only be mastic flavored, but the reviews on this one were interesting -- was yours coated in white sand??

The mastic I have, which is the real thing (teardrop shapes, piney flavour etc) isn't coated in sand which leads me to believe that there are probably different qualities of the product available though they're not officially graded...at least not in the packaging I've seen......
I think the flavour was muted by all of the dairy, eggs, sugar and freezing temperatures of the ice cream.
Edited to add feb 6:
Picked up more today. The grocery store carried 2 brands, both covered in fine white powder. One brand is large, irregularly shaped crystals and has the strongest flavour. The other is small teardrops and spheres. Both are stronger in flavour than the first package I bought (the one that went into the ice cream)
