Broccoli sautéed with onion and garlic, on bread, with cheese on top. Basic, but wholesome and delicious. We had it with ciabatta bread. The photo shows the sandwich with the filling, we followed the instructions for closed-face sandwiches grilled to melt the cheese (instead of openfaced and broiled).
I think that the sandwich needed something zippy - like a bit of hot sauce, or some spicy mustard, or a stronger cheese.
As a side note, it was probably my broccoli sandwiches that won my DH's heart all those many years ago. This sandwich differed from my traditional ones in that the broccoli was cut finer, and it lacked tomatoes.
