The individual components of this colourful dessert were very good but I didn’t feel that they worked together very well.
The salad was a refreshing mix of watermelon and citrus fruit …..I omitted the grapefruit as there are too many haters in my family, and the lemon as I couldn’t imagine eating plain lemon segments. The sweet mascarpone topping flavoured with citrus zest was very nice and would be wonderful as the base of a fruit tart but it seemed too rich and heavy for the juicy fruit salad. A scoop of orange or lemon sorbet would have worked nicely, or better yet, serving the beautiful fruit without adornment!
