When I got this book daughter was flipping through and found this amazing cake (also on the cover) and said this is the cake I want for my birthday this year. I was a little intimidated by the photos but the cake was pretty easy and fun to make. I did need a little more cream that in the instructions for the salted Peanut butter buttercream frosting.
Son doesn't like chocolate cake but he loved the pretzels with the PB frosting on them.
Everyone else loved the cake although hubby picked the pretzels off his and from between the layers.

What a beautiful cake! I will have to show it to my daughter - I'm getting awfully tired of making her favorite texas chocolate dr. pepper cake - and this might be just the thing to get her to move on! Yours is every bit as beautiful as the cover photo - bravo!

Thanks so much QS.

My first thought is that the pretzels must get soggy from the frosting. How do they hold up?

BethNH, they were fine the first day but the next day they were starting to get a bit soft, they still tasted good with the cake and icing though. We went through the cake pretty fast and it was gone by the third day. Daughter did take quiet a bit home with her, after all it was her birthday cake. I took the last piece to work with me and the pretzels were about the same as the 2nd day soft but not completely soggy.
