This is what I call chili beans and I've been craving those lately, possibly due to the bone chilling temps we've been have here lately. I finally got all my ingredients and put it in my slow cooker before leaving for work one morning. I returned home to some very tempting smells and I wasn't disappointed when I got some crackers and dug in. Yum! I did omit the 2 cups of water called for and am happy I did as this had just the right amount of liquid without it and the taste was great. I used medium hot chili powder from Penzeys Spices and it resulted in a nice spicy chili. This makes an enormous amount of chil so I ate some leftovers the next day with some cheese added, delicious. I plan on warming some up for my lunch soon and maybe have some cornbread with it next.
