Quintet of Cuisines (Time-Life Foods of the World)
That's interesting. This is a series I'd expect to find in a library. Too bad.

What cookbooks did you find under the tree?
For new year's day, we'll go to our local restaurant, which does a scrumptious many-coursed meal both for NYE and for NYD. I just counted nine courses for last year including the aperitif and a couple of amuse-bouche things. Last year fo…

Can't say I've ever seen Tractor Supply's magazine. :-) But it sounds like it could be a promising cookbook. I love oddball things like that. Sometimes they're real treasures.

I've seen that Amazon, via UPS, had trouble delivering for xmas. If it was due before, you should get a refund on postage and maybe a gift certificate too.

It's the graphic novel. A friend recommended it. Looks at least like a fun read.

I think that's a British styles I see occasionally. Yes, confusing. "One time 1/4 tsp", etc.

Our house was built in 1900. (Excepting ones built in the last 10 years or so, it's probably the newest house in the village.) The sink was probably from the previous owner who did his renovations in the 1980s or 90s. Probably there was no indo…

Brown ceramic sink -- that what we had! Ugliest thing I've ever seen. Ed took great pleasure in smashing in before the trip to the dump.

The Future of Cookbooker
I also will really miss Cookbooker. This has been one of my favorite internet communities. I love reading everyone's reviews and have enjoyed the challenges, lots of learning, and good ideas. (I did tag a review for the dumpling challenge, but…

When we bought our house in Houston many many many years ago, it can with a stove that had two ovens, one big, one smaller. At the time I thought having two ovens was a silly idea. But I loved it! Big meals take a lot more planning when you can'…

We're finishing what we started when we moved in. Starting with reflooring, which made all difficult. We didn't like the floor when we bought the house (8.5 yrs ago), but thought we could live with it. But the longer we lived with it the m…

New Challenge for November, 2013?
I just discovered I was already signed up on Craftsy, although I don't recall it! The cooking courses are significantly pricier than those I looked at for other crafts. Have you been happy with the courses? Do gnocchi count as dumplings? My …

Beth, it is funny that the Charmaine Solomon challenge-to-be hasn't taken off. I've picked up the book a couple of times. Was surprised it already had a few stickies on it, mostly, I think, from when I was researching something or other th…

That's a neat idea to have a cook-a-dumpling (or some other specific food) challenge!

Homesick Texas sounds good to me. I don't have this book, but I've given it as a gift and cooked from her site. Santa might have his arm twisted to bring me a new book!

My thought was that a smerge with Goodreads might give Andrew more chance to make a bit of money. Hope nothing's wrong, since he's been a bit unresponsive of late.

Feeling a bit sad that Cookbooker seems to be winding down. Andrew's lost interest and there's not even been too much activity lately from users. I was just wondering this morning if it would be an idea for Cookbooker to merge with Goodre…

I'm not finding a FB page for cookbooker, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I thought EYB was a competitor for cookbooker. If so, I'm not sure they'd appreciate the plug.

Goodreads is "connected" to Facebook so that when you review a book, you can have it (automatically or case-by-case) post a notice to your FB timeline. How about if cookbooker would post a notice when you review a recipe or cookbook? There…

I'm a goodreads person too. And understand the need to publicize cookbooker. But how with a goodreads group differ from this forum though? Are there enough people to make a Facebook group worthwhile?

I don't use EYB, I just find it searching. There's a bit more to search results that just the number of links. Meta data has a bearing. I'm no expert, this is one of those areas I've tried hard to ignore. ;-)

Another thing that might boost Cookbooker is to up its search profile. When searching for a recipe, I seem to turn up things from EatYourBooks more often than from Cookbooker.
