I am spending two weeks just outside of Berlin. Do any of you have some advice for me - on kitchen implements or ingredients that are unique/special in this area, cookbooks only found here, or great dishes to order in restaurants?
Don't forget to look at the Bookstore page, as there are least two Berlin bookstores listed. Also Valentina's Kochbuch (http://www.valentinas-kochbuch.de/) is a great German cookbook website and with Google Translate you should be able to look through it for some ideas (the editor, Katharina, speaks English and has helped us with the German section of the Cookbooker bookstore list, so she might also be a good person to ask).
There is a food blogger called The Wednesday Chef -- she used to be based in NYC but returned to her home in Berlin about a year ago -- she has a Berlin blog now.
Nice blog! I will definitely try one or two of the suggested restaurants. Its always a bit of a crapshoot for me - hard to tell what I'm even ordering most of the time. That blog gives me some good guidance, thanks.
