friederike, thank you for the suggestion. I installed the latest version of Adobe flash and to my knowledge, all other software is up to date but nothing has changed for me on this site.

I'm also experiencing problems adding photos, but different from what southerncooker experienced......they seem to be uploading successfully - no messages regarding the service not being available - but they're not visible to me! I thought…

Julia Child's 100th Birthday
I hope to prepare something in celebration and have chosen a few quick/easy/make-ahead recipes from "mastering": Tomates a la Provencale, mussels, and poached peaches ("Cardinal"). But if I run out of time, I'll make the fi…

cookbook author's restaurants
I haven't eaten at that many restaurants where the chef has written a cookbook, but one does come to mind.....I had a wonderful meal at Lumiere in Vancouver, BC and was very excited when chef Rob Feenie came out with the book. I took one look a…

QS, I really enjoyed reading your recipe reviews from this book.....it makes me think I was a little too hasty in returning it to the library so soon! Looking forward to your next cookbook club meeting......canyon picnic...sounds wonderful.

After spending some time with the book, I'm even more impressed. The recipes are as kateq and kaye 16 describe above and the book itself is informative without being preachy, and the "well-stocked pantry" the author recommends contain…

Maybe it could be a challenge based on an author instead of on a book or blog. kateq, I like this idea. QS, I've had a quick look at the recipes and have already chosen quite a few that I'd like to try, but haven't had a chance to r…

Funny you should suggest this book....I borrowed it from the library based on kateq's recommendation above, as well as Super Natural Every Day, and it holds a lot more appeal for me than Heidi Swanson's book. One of the previous challenge…

I'm not sure how exciting her recipes are, but I've heard Ellie Krieger's name bandied about on the internet (in a positive way) - she's written her own books and has her own tv show, though I'm not familiar with them. I be…

I would definitely participate in a challenge like that....I'm tired of constantly adjusting recipes to make them lower in fat, wondering if I'm also compromising flavour. It would be nice to use recipes that someone else has already tweak…

I'd really like to taste one before I commit to a crop of them! I'd rather just commit a 1/2 day to going downtown where there are lots of specialty markets and grocers that are sure to have them.
