Queezle Sister
This picture shows Queezle, a quail who lived with us for a year. She because our friend (not dinner), but eventually a wild male courted her through the window, and so she returned to the wild.

No way! Tell me more. I just looked and can see that you can link to evernote, but I didn't see other tools.

How do you start a cookbook club?
I am definitely the biggest cookbook fanatic of the group. Three others enjoy cooking, and there are two who mostly appreciate the party. Selecting cookbooks with easy options helps to keep the group together. I thought the group had died when I …

How do you start a cookbook club?
My cookbook club still continues! We have trouble being organized over the summer (too many busy schedules), but we just regrouped for a Cuban Cookout (From Latin Grilling) for Labor Day. The same six founding members, and strong opposition to exp…

Saddest cookbooks ever
That is a really funny list - the bland diet? Whoo boy, I am thankful for a reliable digestive system.

kateq, I love the comments too. But have you noticed that many recipes are rated by people who have only read them? What is with that?

Stories set in the kitchen
What a nice list - they all go on my "to read" list! I really liked The Kitchen Daughter, which combined magical realism with the power of food and perhaps autism? Reading this book made me more compassionate about a problematic brother …

That long list is interesting. My bookshelves didn't match very well either, though I did hit 75% on the vegetarian category!

Bargain deals
That is a super bargain! At one time I was searching for a used copy on line, and couldn't find anything for under $25. I'm looking forward to seeing your reviews.

The review quality is highly variable, isn't it? I agree - that was an interesting review. I also really found myself curious about flavor flours, might have to get that one.

The first round is done. I was really surprised at Huckleberry winning, given the scuttlebutt that I had heard, and I'm really interested in checking out "lunch at the shop". What do you all think so far?

OK, I usually am only mildly interested in the piglet, but man oh man, you've just got to check out the second review, here. The most unusual and funny review I've read. Just go ahead and click it!

Best wishes, Friederike. For me, becoming a mother was the single most life changing event, though it took a few years for the commotion to recede somewhat and for me to realize it. Wishing you and your DH much happiness.

The Future of Cookbooker
The advertising seems to have disappeared. This is what allows cookbooker's maintenance - I hope all is OK.

It was a single giant piece of meat We cut it into three similar-sized chunks, and quite surprisingly, it all seemed to disappear. I guess the dining hall food at school has made him appreciate home cooking. We are still talking about the taco r…

Next challenge?
I like the idea of using a cookbook that bunyip could use, too. I have a Donna Hay cookbook (off the shelf), and absolutely love it - but I have not researched whether her cookbooks have widespread ownership.

Another possibility would be to use an even older classic, though I have not done the math to see how many own the various editions - I am thinking Joy of Cooking. This might be more of an American book, said at the risk that the Bittman book is al…

I just scanned my bookshelf, looking at the icon for the number of owners. It looked like Bittman's How to Cook Everything Vegetarian, at 153, might be the most owned. But of course with different editions, etc, that complicates the equation.…

Best-of-the-year cookbook lists for 2014
Eat your books helps, but when I try to plan my meals at work, I have to resort to the internet. I am trying to make a weekly menu plan, focusing on my books. But it is certainly an up-hill battle.

Best-of-the-year cookbook lists for 2014
I just added 14 feet of bookcases, but they are intended for more than just cookbooks. I agree about the need to be highly selective, especially because I tend to actually use internet recipes a lot. I spy a package under the tree that looks sus…

What Bunyip says is true, induction requires pans with sufficient iron content. I think these used to be difficult to find, but in my search for cookware, at more than half the cookware I looked at would have worked (maybe around 75%?). For me the…
