I can't believe it took me so long to try this recipe. Since the English muffin dough is more of a batter, I needed to find some crumpet rings, which I finally borrowed from my mom. After making this recipe, I think I will need to purchase my own.

These English muffins were simple to make and delicious. My husband says they taste just like the bought ones, only better. I used the partial whole wheat variation.

The dough was refrigerated overnight just like most of the other recipes in the book. Baking them in a griddle took time but wasn't difficult. The dough rose significantly and my first muffins spilled out over the side of the rings. All that rising made wonderful large holes for which English muffins are known. For the next batch I just used less batter and they were perfect.

I've been amazed at how recipe after recipe from this book turns out exactly as described!

Let me start out by first saying this English Muffin recipe is awesome. They are better than anything I've had out of a Thomas' English Muffin package or even at restaurants. Very authentic and delicious.

I made these in 2 batches and they are super simple to make. I would recommend getting some english muffin rings, so it takes you less time. Each batch takes about 25 minutes and that can be very time consuming if you only have 1 or 2 muffins rings (I used 2 of the biggest size pastry rings).

See my pictures for final results.

This is the second time I've tried my hand at making English Muffins and these were by far the best. I don't know if it is putting the dough in the fridge overnight or the addition of that little bit of baking soda a few minutes before starting to bake, but they were wonderful. I like the idea of making your dough and putting in fridge overnight and baking the next morning. Great weekend project so you can have tasty English Muffins for breakfast all week.

I fork split one as soon as it was cooled and popped it in the toaster. Once toasty brown inside I slathered on a little butter and let it melt into those crannies. What can I say? It was the best English Muffin I've ever had by far! My taste buds are in heaven. I'm sure if you were listening carefully you could have heard me moan with that first bite. I know I'll be making these again and again.
