Fine Cooking offers this recipe as an appetizer for a casual dinner party and it would be just perfect for that. But it also makes an excellent light winter dinner with a green salad and a good crusty bread. The quality of the dish depends a lot on the quality of the mussels and we were fortunate to find nice meaty ones tonight. The recipe could not be simpler -- a prep of about 15 minutes (after cleaning the mussels) and in the 4-6 minutes that it cooks, you can pull together a simple salad and vinaigrette.
