Really lovely in its simplicity and seasonality. As simple as grating a ripe tomato over a piece of toasted bread rubbed with a clove of garlic then sprinkling with some sea salt. Really.
I just had it for a light snack, but it's also a perfect accompaniment to a soup or salad.

This sounds like my kind of food - I live for home-grown tomatoes. Thanks for posting this.
Did it really work to grate your tomato? The picture on line looked like a sauce or paste, is that what happened to yours? I think I will try this - my black krim tomatoes are just starting to ripen, and they deserve a recipe that truly showcases their flavor.

It did really work .. I used a hand-held grater rather than a box grater, and the holes were pretty small (it's the grater I usually use for grating fresh parmesan), but it worked well. Probably a bit less messy to grate into a bowl first and then toss the skin and pour the pulp (which does come out with a sauce-like texture) over the bread ... but if you don't want to dirty an extra bowl, directly over the bread works fine too.
