This was the fanciest beef stroganoff I've ever eaten! I found the sauce very rich, but enjoyed the layers of flavors. The meat was delicious seared and chunky with so much flavor. On the other hand it was not an easy recipe but I think all those steps really do build flavor. Definitely not my mother in law's recipe!

I thought this was very good but not great. Like many recipes in this cookbook, this takes a while to prepare. I didn't think it was really necessary to saute the mushrooms as specifically as called for. Once they are in the sauce, I don't think anyone would be able to tell the difference.

This made a lot of sauce so I didn't toss the pasta with all of it, and instead, served the extra at the table. This turned out to be a good decision because the pasta absorbed most of the sauce so it was nice to be able to add more.

This makes a lot more than four servings. Now the extra sauce will be good on the leftovers tomorrow.

Hauntingly good!!! This was so good my girlfriend that is known for her Beef Stroganoff was pissed that I blew her out of the water.. like not a little pissed.. really pissed.

It took 2 days with the Braised beef short ribs.. but hint hint, I can leave out the short ribs.. use hamburger.. or even steal the wine spice mix from the beef shortrib, mix it with the hamburger - lower portions- and let the Stroganoff recipie do all the work.. the fresh mushrooms, heavy cream.. this and the creamed corn have been my two favorites so far!!

This is the best recipe for Beef Stroganoff I have ever made. This had several layers of mushroom flavors. The sauce was not overpowered with sour cream as many recipes call for. I will make this again.
