I've been making these for years! The recipe has been reprinted several times over in AWW's various cookie/biscuit cookbooks. Sometimes I vary the recipe a little by adding a few currants or finely chopped glace cherries, but usually I stick to the regular recipe with sultanas. Another variation I've seen includes a small amount of finely grated lemon peel which adds a fresh zestiness. That's lemon peel, not dried mixed peel ;)
