Hmm. I baked this cake on Saturday and took it to a picnic on Sunday. It was very delicious, but not quite what I had hoped; I had already tasted some of the cake on Saturday, scratching off a bit that had stuck to the baking pan, and that stuff was really delicious, crunchy on the top and juicy on the bottom (before turning). What is "normal" sugar for you? In the US, granulated sugar is normal sugar.

I took it to be coarse sugar - didn't look it up though, I just didn't expect granulated sugar to be the same as normal sugar. So I was lucky it worked out...
