If you look around the web some people seem to think this is the greatest sauce recipe ever. I really disagree. I found the flavors unbalanced. It tasted very strongly onion-y despite the fact that you remove the onion pieces after cooking. Almost paradoxically I also I found it overly sweet - perhaps because of all the butter called for? I like my tomato sauce to taste like tomatoes and herbs. This sauce obscures the tomatoes and doesn't have any herbs.
