I feel a little silly reviewing a recipe for popcorn of all things, but stovetop popcorn has been my favorite new/rediscovered thing of late. After I made it, I wondered why I wasted my time with microwave popcorn during the past 20+ years. When we made stovetop popcorn when I was growing up, there were always some kernels burnt to the bottom of the pan, but I use a nonstick pot now and haven't had any problems. Thank you for reminding me of the joys of a simple pleasure. I enjoyed popcorn as a child, but as an adult - not so much. I bet you are right that its those microwave packages that I actually don't like!

We got rid of our microwave some time ago, so this is definitely a childhood pleasure I'll have to revisit next movie night!

Microwave popcorn is truly nasty stuff. It's filled with chemicals. I can't stand the smell of it. We bought a Whirly Pop a few years ago and it's the best way we've found to make popcorn on our glass top stove.
