The flavors of this cake were very nice, but it did not come out how I expected it would. The recipe says that the pear and chocolate pieces will sink into the cake batter as it cooks. This did not happen with my cake. I did substitute Cup4Cup gluten-free flour for the regular flour the recipe calls for. I ended up with a pile of chocolate chunks on top of my cake. Amazing how much in agreement you all are for the reviews for this recipe. Pear and chocolate sound like a match made in heaven.

This cake was okay. I would give it another shot with a Kitchenaid since the eggs require extensive beating and, frankly, my arm got tired after 10 minutes of mixing, but otherwise it's going into the annals of "tried and didn't work out terribly well."
