On the outside, it looks like the plainest of vanilla bundt cakes, but once sliced, the hidden layer of juicy pears enrobed in sweet almond cream is revealed.
The cake is a very good, basic vanilla coffee cake – moist, dense and a little tangy from the sour cream. I love the combination also, yet I've never made one of those tarts......I'll have to do that soon as our local pears are ready. More baked goods to foist onto other people! I'm lucky that way.....nothing stays around for very long.
