I like the addition of beer, worcestershire sauce, and beef broth in this stew. I used a dark ale. It also contains the usual suspects for a good beef stew, carrots, onions, potatoes, garlic and tomato paste. It thickens up nicely at the end with a little addition of flour. I served ours with some beer bread that I used the same kind of ale in. I can't wait to use the leftovers in the recipe on page 168 which is a version of shepherd's pie.
