A modest twist on oatmeal, this recipe combines old-fashioned oats and steel cut. The cook is instructed to cook in a mix of whole milk and water. There is a generous addition of salt, and a bit of sugar.

As the other reviewer said, this recipe is basically half and half milk and water and also steel cut and rolled oats; I only add a pinch of salt. I love the texture of this. Can be made ahead and heated as needed in the microwave, and milk to water ratio can be adjusted. This is my favourite oatmeal recipe…I always go back to it.
