I've been making these for years. They are fantastic. I do use panko instead of the seasoned bread crumbs now days. Love that added crunch the panko gives them. Sometimes I add a bit of hot sauce to the buttermilk/egg/garlic soaking mixture. They're great dipped in ranch dressing.
