Split Pea Soup with Ham

I was in a mood for split pea soup, and this one sounded somewhat light and inviting. The peas needed more time to cook than instructed (despite an over-night soak), but that might be attributable to my elevation. The spices were good (including smoked paprika) - resulting in a fully flavored soup. Just enough chunks of ham to keep the carnivores eating. I cooked the vegetables longer than suggested to get a good caramelized flavor (note that veggies included leeks - yum!).
