Peanut Butter Surprise Cookies

I adore these cookies. But be aware they won't be universal crowdpleasers. The "surprise" is Sriracha and Chinese five spice. They've got some kick. My kitchen smelled divinely of anise while they were cooking.

If your (and your recipients ) tastebuds are even slightly adventurous, these will be well received, maybe even go down in cookie history. I have a coworker who begs me to make them again. Another one asked for the recipe. I learned the hard way though not to make these for someone whose tastes hew more towards slice and bake. He still gives me grief about that time I made cookies with "taco sauce" in them.
