Wanted to try a different Apple Pie for Thanksgiving, and because I love the Super Pumpkin-y Pumpkin Pie from this book, I thought I'd give the apple a try. It was good but still prefer the Apple- Brown Sugar Pie from Macrina Bakery - it's piled high with apples, while this one is a bit shallow, has just the right amount of juice (maybe because of the butter?) and spice, while this one was a slightly dry (filling never bubbled up thru the lattice) and flavor was pretty average.
