I'd never tasted, let alone made, a snickerdoodle before reading the reviews here and deciding to give them a try. What are they? They're very simple butter cookies, but the addition of cream of tartar gives them a slightly different flavour. The recipe here is straightforward and I made them with no tweaks. They came out thin and flat, and only a little chewy. The flavour seemed to improve after a day or so in the cookie jar.

Definitely worth trying out, though I'm still more of a fan of classics like chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin.

These Snickerdoodles were my contribution to a potluck dinner I went to last night, and everyone said they were delicious. I followed the recipe exactly, and these came out very light and crunchy. They have just the right balance between sweetness and cinnamon. However, since the only other Snickerdoodles I've ever had were my Aunt Martha's, and hers were chewy, I wonder if I did something wrong. Anyway, if they are supposed to be crunchy, they get 4.5 stars, if not, they only get 3.5.

This is a go-to snickerdoodle recipe. If it's snickerdoodles you want, you'll get a good one if you make them from this recipe. It works really well with Penzey's Ceylon cinnamon. The cinnamon, the egginess and the soft, chewy texture make this cookie so fabulous, so it's really special if you use very good cinnamon.
