The original classic recipe book bringing Indian cooking to the UK. I think everyone in my family owns a copy, if not two!

Probably my first Indian cookbook, bought after I saw bits of the series on the BBC. Much used, with many favorites. Sometimes tending to be too oily or salty, but this is easily remedied. Quick list of favorites (noted in front of book): Gujarati-style green beans, p102 Raita, p162 Lentils with garlic & onion, p124 Spicy baked chicken, p71 Rice with peas, p149 Simple buttery rice with onions, p145 Seviyan ki kheer, p192 Spicy green beans, p103 Aromatic yellow rice, p153 Onion relish, p174 Yogurt with eggplant, p164 Lemony chicken with fresh coriander, p73 Carrot & onion salad, p171
